Why I rejected my husband’s name choice for our child — Temi Otedola

Nigerian actress Temi Otedola has opened up about why she rejected the name choice suggested by her husband, singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi, for their first child.Mr Eazi, for their first child.

The couple, who got married in a private ceremony in Iceland in August last year, recently shared details about their pregnancy journey and preparations for the arrival of their baby during an episode of their podcast.

Mr Eazi revealed that he had considered Japan as one of the possible countries where their child could be born. He added that his interest in the country led him to search for Japanese names for the baby.

Speaking in a viral clip from the podcast, Mr Eazi explained that they consulted nine doctors across different countries because they were uncertain about where they would eventually welcome their child.

“Why exactly do we see nine doctors? Nine doctors to give you options, not just that, because we didn’t know where we were going to be. Which country? We didn’t know which country we were going to decide on. I wanted Japan,” he said.

He noted that the consultations gave them multiple options as they considered different locations ahead of the birth.

However, Temi jokingly dismissed her husband’s idea of choosing a Japanese name.

“By the way, he’s also been looking at Japanese names, and I’m like no, absolutely not,” she said.

Mr Eazi added that their decision to consult several doctors was largely driven by uncertainty over where they would be when the baby arrived.

According to him, they wanted to carefully explore medical options in different countries before making a final decision.

The couple had earlier announced they were expecting their first child in May after discovering the pregnancy during their honeymoon in Asia.
