Why I stopped going to church – Popular skit maker reveals

Popular streamer Caterefe has opened up about how skit maker Sidney Talker played a role in his decision to stop attending church.

Appearing on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe shared that he was once a consistent churchgoer. However, he said his perspective changed after receiving advice from Sidney, whom he had looked up to as a devoted Christian, but whose guidance did not align with his expectations.

The streamer further revealed that Sidney advised him to stop streaming altogether and to part ways with his streaming partner, Kolu, with a payment of just one million naira.

He added that Sidney’s advice felt malicious to him, and the experience significantly shaped his perception of Christians and churchgoers.

“I used to go to church but I stopped because I noticed that a lot of churchgoers are very malicious. For example, Sidney Talker goes to church consistently yet he advised me to quit streaming. I see that as malicious advice.

“He has even advised me before to discharge Kolu with 1 million naira but I refused. That was when I decided to make Kolu my best friend. He said that I should discharge Kolu because his former boss Portable has juju and could attack me.

“I wonder why Sidney Talker is afraid of juju despite his consistency in church. I was surprised by his advice because I was beginning to gain traction and then suddenly he advised me to stop. What reason would you have to tell me to calm down? It seemed malicious to me,” he expressed.

Caterefe also revealed that before he ventured into streaming, he battled depression for months, feeling intense pressure as skit-making began to lose its popularity.

He explained that he eventually overcame the depression after he started streaming, which helped him regain focus and stability.
