Nigerian singer Barry Jhay has revealed that he would choose wealth over fame if given another opportunity to live his life.
The singer made the disclosure while reflecting on his music career, family background and the difficulties he encountered following the death of his father.
Barry Jhay described fame as dangerous, pointing to the intense pressure that comes with living as a public figure.
He said he would prefer to be wealthy without the burden of public attention in his next life.
“Fame is dangerous. In my next life, I don’t want to have a talent or be famous; I just want to be rich,” he said.
The singer, whose late father was Fuji music icon Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, also spoke about how his father’s death significantly changed his circumstances.
According to Barry Jhay, he grew up with certain privileges but was forced to struggle after losing his father and the advantages associated with his family background.
“I was born a Nepo baby, but after losing my dad and everything, I am hustling like a Lapo baby,” he said.
He described the experience as a “sweet-bitter feeling,” explaining that while he enjoyed privileges during his childhood, his circumstances changed considerably following his father’s death.
