Why I’ll never get married – Tyler Perry

Hollywood filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry has revealed that he has no intention of getting married, citing what he described as a growing “divorce pandemic” as one of the reasons behind his decision.

The 57-year-old, who has never been married, spoke about his stance during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Perry, who shares an 11-year-old son, Aman, with model Gelila Bekele, explained that his decision was not because he does not believe in love but because he wants to protect the life and achievements he has built over the years.

The filmmaker also highlighted the financial and legal complications that can arise from divorce, saying they played a significant role in shaping his decision not to marry.

Perry also said getting older has changed his priorities, adding that he wants to spend more time with his son and enjoy life.

“I’m never marrying. And it’s actually the divorce pandemic that is happening. Everybody that I know that is doing well went broke because of divorce,” he said.

“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.”

In 2020, Perry had also opened up about experiencing a midlife crisis, describing himself as single and uncertain about what the next chapter of his life would look like.

“This is what a midlife crisis looks like. I’m 51, single, and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like. Whatever it looks like I’m going to walk with God, be the best father and man I can be,” he wrote at the time.
