The Nigerian hype man, Fisayo ‘MC Fish’ Michael, has opened up about the collapse of his marriage to actress Anita Joseph.
Speaking in a recent interview with WithChude, the entertainer advised people not to fear marriage, describing it as a learning process similar to progressing through different stages of education.
“Marriage is not something that should scare anybody. I feel like marriage is a school, just like moving from primary school to university,” he said.
MC Fish revealed that his marriage eventually ended due to irreconcilable differences.
According to him, the relationship was no longer functioning properly, and he chose to leave before the situation became toxic. Despite the outcome, he said he considers the experience part of life’s journey.
“I failed in my first marriage, but I just see it as life. Whether it is a loss, gain, success or failure, I see it as life,” he said.
“The reason why it ended was irreconcilable differences. It was not just working, but rather than it becoming toxic and hearing funny news. I decided to walk away for my peace and everybody’s peace of mind.”
The hype man also stated that he still respects Anita Joseph and dismissed allegations that he benefited from her popularity.
“I still respect my ex-wife. People were coming for me, saying I wanted to share her spotlight. I did my duties as a husband. I have been working in the nightlife for 16 years, 5 nights every week. I don’t go out and not get paid,” he said.
His remarks come months after he publicly admitted that both he and Anita had been unfaithful during their marriage.
“Cheating in marriage, I have experienced it; you all know the story: both parties cheated, and I am not even denying the fact that I am absolving myself of blame,” he had said.
“I did it; she cheated too, with countless numbers of people that, if I decide even to mention, the whole country and everybody will first be on pause.”
