Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history as the first African artist to exceed 11 billion total streams on Spotify across all credited appearances.
The achievement was announced on Tuesday by music statistics platform Chart Africa via X.
According to the platform, Wizkid is the first African artiste to reach the 11 billion streams milestone on Spotify.
The post reads, “Wizkid becomes the first African artist EVER to cross 11 Billion Spotify streams across all credits”.
The achievement comes just days after the release of his collaboration with DJ Tunez titled ‘State of Mind’.
The song, which dropped on May 15, 2026, earned more than 685,000 global streams on Spotify within its first complete day.
