[FOODIES CORNER] How to make Popcorn at home

Making popcorn at home is a quick and affordable way to enjoy a delicious snack without relying on store-bought options. With just a few popcorn kernels, cooking oil and a little seasoning, you can prepare fresh, crunchy popcorn in minutes using a pot and a stovetop.

You’ll need: ½ cup popcorn kernels, 2–3 tablespoons cooking oil (vegetable, canola, coconut, etc.), and salt. Butter is optional.

How to make it:

  1. Put the oil and 2–3 popcorn kernels in a large pot with a lid.
  2. Heat over medium-high heat.
  3. When those kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels and cover the pot.
  4. Gently shake the pot every few seconds so the kernels don’t burn.
  5. When the popping slows to about one pop every 2–3 seconds, turn off the heat.
  6. Carefully open the lid away from your face, then add salt and melted butter to taste.

Tip: Don’t overcrowd the pot—the kernels should form roughly one layer across the bottom. 🍿
