Iran has announced that at least 12 journalists and media workers were killed during its recent conflict with Israel, according to state-run IRNA news agency.
The media wing of the Basij, a paramilitary unit under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), confirmed the updated death toll on Thursday after identifying two more victims. The group accused Israel of deliberately targeting media outlets to “silence the voice of truth” and suppress the “media of the Resistance Front.”
The 12-day war, which erupted on June 13 following a surprise Israeli offensive, marked one of the most intense escalations between the two countries. Israel’s aerial campaign targeted Iranian military facilities, nuclear infrastructure, and residential areas.
Among the sites hit was Iran’s state broadcasting service in northern Tehran. The conflict left 1,060 Iranians dead, including senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians, according to Iranian officials.
In response, Iran launched waves of drones and missiles at Israeli targets, killing at least 28 people.
Tensions between the two countries remain high, with both sides accusing the other of violating international law and targeting civilian infrastructure.
