The crash occurred late on Friday in Pernambuco State and involved a bus carrying 30 passengers.
According to police, the driver initially struck rocks at the roadside before regaining the correct lane. Moments later, the vehicle veered off course again, crashed into an embankment, and overturned.
Eleven women and four men lost their lives in the accident, while the number of injured passengers has not yet been confirmed.
The driver sustained only minor injuries and tested negative for alcohol consumption. He was later taken into police custody for questioning.
