2027: PRP formally announces Ex-Cross River gov as presidential candidate

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has announced Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River state, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

According to NAN, Duke was cleared as the PRP standard-bearer for the 2027 elections after the party’s primary results were reviewed and approved by the appeal committee and national working committee (NWC), respectively.

Duke, who governed Cross River from 1999 to 2007, contested the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In a statement issued on Saturday, Muhammed Ishaq, PRP national publicity secretary, said the NWC also upheld the outcome of the governorship, senate, house of representatives and state houses of assembly primary elections.

Ishaq said all candidates were cleared to contest the 2027 elections, except for the Tarauni federal constituency in Kano, where the primary poll was nullified.

Ishaq added that the party will be fielding a total of 420 candidates for all elective positions in the upcoming general election.
