Abducted ECWA BoT chairman regains freedom

Rev. Sunday Bobai Agang, a senior cleric of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT), has been released after being abducted from his residence in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The update was confirmed in Jos by ECWA’s acting public relations officer, Danjuma Auta, who disclosed that the cleric has regained his freedom and is safe.

“We wish to announce with immense gratitude and joy the release of our dear pastor, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, who was abducted by unknown gunmen.”
“We are delighted to confirm that he has regained his freedom and is currently safe,” the statement reads.

The church gave thanks to God for answering the prayers of its members and the global Christian community, describing the development as proof of divine faithfulness and the power of united prayers. It also commended all those who remained steadfast in prayer during the challenging period.

While celebrating his safe return, ECWA stressed that the incident once again highlights the persistent insecurity across the country, especially the growing trend of kidnapping.

“The rising wave of kidnapping, which has sadly become a means of livelihood for some, is a threat to our collective existence and must be addressed urgently,” the statement said.

The church called on governments at all levels to fulfil their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property, urging decisive and sustained measures to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace nationwide.

“It is imperative that decisive and sustained actions be taken to dismantle the criminal networks behind these heinous acts and restore peace and security across the country,” the statement added.

ECWA reaffirmed its commitment to continue praying for peace in Nigeria and the safety of all citizens.

Agang was reportedly abducted on Tuesday morning from his home in Farin Gada, Jos North LGA of Plateau State.
