Abducted Katsina couple, toddler still in captivity after eight days

A Katsina-based businessman, Anas Ahmadu, along with his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter, have remained in captivity for eight days following their abduction to an unknown location.

The incident occurred on August 26, 2025, when kidnappers invaded their home in the Filin Canada Quarters area of Katsina metropolis and took them away.

Confirming the development on Tuesday, Katsina Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu visited the scene and has since deployed additional resources to track down the kidnappers.

The kidnappers, according to a source, had earlier demanded N600 million ransom but later reduced it to N100 million for the victims to be released.

According to him, “We are praying to Allah (SWT) to soften the hearts of the abductors to release them.”

He also appealed to the state government to intervene and secure the release of the abductees.

The attackers, it is reported, gained entry into the residence through the fence and killed a vigilante member, Abdullahi Muhammad, who had responded to a distress call from the family.
