Absence of Media house stalls Sowore’s arraignment

The planned arraignment of Omoyele Sowore and Sahara Reporters at the Federal High Court in Abuja stalled on Wednesday following the absence of the second defendant, Sahara Reporters.

The case, which involves fresh charges of forgery, defamation, and alleged incitement to mutiny, was scheduled to come before Justice Emeka Nwite.

However, the court heard that the second defendant had not been served with the summons. The prosecution explained that attempts to serve Sahara Reporters through substituted means, by publishing the summons, had failed because the publication was not yet ready.

Justice Nwite adjourned the matter to 15 September for arraignment.

Speaking to journalists after proceedings, Sowore’s counsel, Marshall Abubakar, said he would challenge the competence of the charges, describing them as frivolous and without merit.
