The Adamawa State Government has announced a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area and nearby communities in response to renewed attacks on the Bachama community, allegedly carried out by members of the “Chobo community.”
The fresh unrest comes less than a week after Governor Umaru Fintiri held a security meeting with leaders of both groups in a bid to achieve lasting peace.
When the crisis initially erupted months ago, Governor Fintiri visited the two rival communities to inspect the destruction — including burnt homes and damaged property — while urging both sides to “sheath their swords” and work towards reconciliation.
Local sources confirmed that the latest wave of violence began on the night of Sunday, “7 December 2025,” when heavily armed attackers stormed Waduku, Rigange, Tingo, and surrounding settlements, overpowering the communities.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers carried weapons more advanced than those used by military personnel stationed to maintain order. The assault forced many residents to flee in fear as gunfire echoed across the affected areas.
In response, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo, deployed additional operatives to enforce the curfew and stabilize the situation. He urged residents to avoid actions that could further threaten peace and security in the region.
