The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has begun free online membership registration nationwide as part of its preparations for the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the digital portal forms part of its broader membership registration and revalidation exercise unveiled last month in Abuja.
According to the party, the online platform was introduced to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 on maintaining a digital membership register.
The ADC stated that only members whose details are completely captured and verified in its official digital database will be eligible to vote or contest in the party’s primaries. It added that physical registration will continue concurrently across the country.
“The new digital registration platform, accessible via www.adcregistration.ng is designed to enable the party meet the requirements of the new Electoral Act 2026, regarding digital membership register,” the statement reads.
“Accordingly, only individuals whose membership details are fully captured and verified in the Party’s official digital register will be eligible to vote or be voted for in the Party’s primaries.”
The party noted that it has witnessed significant interest from Nigerians both within the country and in the diaspora since commencing its grassroots membership drive in February.
“Introduction of the free online option is designed to remove barriers to entry, simplify enrolment, and ensure that every eligible Nigerian who wishes to identify with the ADC can do so seamlessly and securely,” the party said.
The ADC further directed members who enrolled through its previous platform to revalidate their registration on the new portal to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It also urged support groups and associations to complete their registration and onboarding process via the digital platform.
The party clarified that the exercise does not affect its reservations about certain provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the timetable released by INEC.
“African Democratic Congress remains committed to building a modern, inclusive, and citizen-driven political movement capable of delivering credible leadership and a better Nigeria that works for all,” the statement added.
On 18 February, President Bola Tinubu assented to the Electoral Act amendment bill following its passage by the National Assembly.
Section 77(2) of the amended law requires political parties to submit a comprehensive digital membership register to INEC at least 21 days before their primaries.
The register must include members’ names, sex, date of birth, address, state, local government area, ward, polling unit, national identity number and photograph in both hard and electronic copies.
