ADC will end banditry – Aregbesola

The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has called on Nigerians to support the party, asserting that once it takes power, it will put an end to banditry and other forms of violent crime.

Aregbesola made the appeal in Ilesa, Osun State, shortly after completing the revalidation of his ADC membership card on Wednesday.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chairman of the ADC Directorate of Media and Publicity in Osun State, Oluwaseun Abosede, and made available in Osogbo.

Addressing his supporters during the revalidation exercise held at Ward 8, Ifofin, in Ilesa East, Osun State, Aregbesola explained that he opted for the party because of its discipline, integrity, and other commendable values.

According to the statement, “OGBENI (Aregbesola) appreciated the work done by the committee and urged every Nigerian to come on board for us to enthrone a good government that will end banditry, insecurity, and incidents like the one that occurred in Kwara, where some unknown gunmen attacked a church, killed some members, and kidnapped others.”

It added that “He told the people that ADC as a party did not come from heaven, but he chose to progressively move with the party that has adopted character, courage, competence, discipline, and integrity as the core of their political engagement and institutional conduct in the service of the Nigerian people. This is the party that will lead Nigeria out of this current quagmire.”

Earlier, the Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee, headed by the committee’s Secretary, Senator Sodiq Yaradua, alongside other party leaders, inaugurated the registration and revalidation programme.

Yaradua noted that the updated ADC membership card incorporates 12 sophisticated security elements to prevent cloning and safeguard credibility.

He also stated that “The first person to be revalidated in Nigeria under the new ADC system was Aregbesola,” urging party members to register in their respective wards.

He revealed that an online registration portal would soon be launched to make membership onboarding easier for people of all ages.

According to the statement, “Hon. Kamil Akinlade Mudashir, Osun State Chairman, ADC Membership Mobilisation, Revalidation & Registration Committee, thereafter revalidated Ogbeni as a member of the ADC.”

Aregbesola has continued to outline the ADC’s agenda should the party secure the presidency.

On September 13, 2025, that Aregbesola declared the party’s readiness to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, unveiling a grassroots mobilisation strategy targeted at securing federal victory and winning Lagos State.

He made the remarks at an event in Lagos on Saturday, where the leader of the Labour Party’s Conscience Forum, Moshood Salvador, officially moved his group into the ADC.

The gathering was attended by Lagos State party leaders, as well as zonal and ward executives of the Conscience Forum from all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs.

Speaking to the new members, Aregbesola praised the Conscience Forum’s leadership and urged them to dedicate themselves to the ADC’s goal of taking power both nationally and in Lagos State in 2027.

He promised that the ADC would not only produce Nigeria’s next president but also win Alausa, emphasising that success would depend on a strategy requiring each committed member to recruit ten new members, with each of those ten also bringing in ten more.

He stressed that applying this model nationwide would ensure sweeping victories for the ADC in the 2027 polls.
