Adeyanju applauds Tinubu over appointment of new head of service

Legal practitioner and public affairs commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).

Adeyanju described the appointment as timely and commendable, saying Enitan’s wealth of experience as a seasoned administrator would be instrumental in repositioning the federal civil service for improved efficiency, accountability and professionalism.

In a statement, Adeyanju urged the new Head of Service to make the fight against corruption a key priority by strengthening systems that would prevent leakages and the misuse of public resources.

He also urged the new Head of Service to take decisive steps to address the persistent issue of ghost workers, noting that the practice undermines public trust and drains resources that could otherwise be used to improve service delivery.

Adeyanju noted that the civil service plays a crucial role in implementing government policies and programmes, stressing that an efficient, transparent and professional bureaucracy is vital to achieving the objectives of the Tinubu administration.

He urged Enitan to use his wealth of experience to introduce reforms that would promote merit, accountability, discipline and productivity across ministries, departments and agencies.

The call comes amid continuing efforts by the Federal Government to reform the public service and improve the effectiveness of government institutions.

The civil service, which serves as the administrative machinery for implementing government policies, has long faced challenges including bureaucratic bottlenecks, corruption, duplication of duties and payroll irregularities.

Adeyanju said the new Head of Service has an opportunity to build on ongoing reforms and restore greater public confidence in the federal civil service.

He said, “I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, a seasoned administrator, as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

“This is a timely and commendable choice, and I urge the new Head of Service to use his wealth of experience to drive meaningful reforms, end corruption and ghost workers syndrome in the civil service and strengthen efficiency and professionalism in the service”.

He further urged civil servants to support the new leadership and embrace reforms designed to create a more responsive, transparent and results-driven public service.
