Alia sends six commissioner-nominees to Benue Assembly for confirmation

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has forwarded the names of six commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The nominees are expected to fill vacancies created by executive council members who resigned to contest various elective positions during the primary elections.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Assembly, Zape Upaa.

According to the statement, “The governor, in the letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Alfred Aondoaver Emberga, said the move was intended to strengthen the State Executive Council and inject additional expertise and capacity into the administration.”

Those nominated are Kuma Aii Yenge, Roy Ashirga Terna, Angwa Egbe Monday, Elizabeth Onma Ogenyi, Solomon Iorpev and Nick Eworo.

Governor Alia urged the lawmakers to give the nominees speedy and favourable consideration in line with the Assembly’s constitutional mandate.

The statement added that the nomination of the commissioners forms part of the administration’s efforts to consolidate its cabinet and enhance the machinery of government for efficient service delivery across Benue State.
