Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, joined protesters on Monday at the National Assembly in Abuja to raise concerns about the INEC Electoral Reform Bill.
At the protest, Obi urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee transparency, especially regarding the electronic transmission of election results.
He stated, “Allow elections follow the normal process. Whoever wins, we will accept. Simple transmission, allow the elections go through the normal process, whatever comes out of it, we’ll accept. Why’re you causing confusion?”
Obi emphasized that Nigerians are not asking for anything extraordinary, only a credible and transparent electoral process. He added that, provided due process is followed, the election results should be respected by everyone.
