Former Ibikunle Amosun on Saturday reiterated his backing for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, describing the ongoing presidential primary exercise as proof of unity within the ruling party.
Speaking with reporters after voting in the APC presidential primary in his ward, Amosun said party supporters nationwide had turned out to demonstrate solidarity with the President and reaffirm their shared resolve ahead of the next election cycle.
“Today is very special. Today is for the President, and we all must come out to show and demonstrate that we are for the President and for APC,” he said.
The former governor noted that similar exercises for other offices, including governorship positions, had already been concluded, stressing that party members remained aligned on the party’s direction.
“We have all taken that position. What is happening today is just to reaffirm what we have done,” Amosun said.
He added that the exercise was being conducted simultaneously across wards nationwide, with party loyalists showing enthusiasm and readiness to take part in the process.
“Every ward in Nigeria is doing this, and we have to come and participate and do our bit too. I am happy with our people. You can see they are very excited and eager to be part of what is going on,” he added.
Reacting to the conduct of the exercise, Amosun praised party members for their discipline and unity throughout the process.
“You can see we are orderly, and that is what it should be. All of us are speaking with one voice. There is no dissension. Everybody agreed that we want our President to continue,” he said.
The APC stalwart maintained that the exercise underscored members’ confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and reflected the ruling party’s commitment to internal unity.
