Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed that Nigerian artistes who want to win a Grammy Award must feature him on their songs.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Rubbin’ Minds’ on Sunday, the singer described himself as the “new-born Fela” and stated that his involvement in a project could help artistes gain recognition from the Recording Academy.
“If any artiste wants to collect Grammy in this Nigeria, if you don’t feature me, you’d not collect Grammy. If you want to collect a Grammy nomination, come and feature me. I am the new face—new born Fela,” he said.
“See my style. I have lookalike like thousand look alike. Even many people are looking up to me.”
Portable also discussed his involvement in celebrity boxing, claiming that he put his music career aside to contribute to the growth of the sport in Nigeria.
“I am going for tour. Now, I have tried for Nigeria. I use my music career to build Nigeria boxing. In 2026, which boxer can come out to say they collected money more than me in this Nigeria? Who has collected more than N100 million? Who has grace like me? I’m a superstar,” he said.
The singer is set to face actor Charles Okocha in a celebrity boxing rematch titled ‘Unfinished Business’, scheduled to take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Portable recently suffered defeat in another celebrity boxing match against streamer Carter Efe.
