APC sweeps Kaduna Bye-Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all three bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kaduna State on Saturday.

In the Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency, APC candidate Felix Bagudu secured 34,580 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who polled 11,491. It marked the first time APC triumphed in Kajuru and Chikun, both PDP strongholds since 1999.

APC also claimed victory in Zaria Kewaye constituency, where its candidate Isa Haruna Ihamo garnered 26,613 votes. Nuhu Sada Abdullahi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) finished second with 5,721, while PDP’s Mamuda Abdullahi Wappa placed third with 5,331.

In Basawa constituency, APC further consolidated its dominance as its candidate won with 10,926 votes against PDP’s 5,499.

The victories reinforced the party’s stronghold in Kaduna, particularly in the Zaria zone, where the contests were widely regarded as a test of political strength between the ruling party and the opposition.
