Army drills in Lokoja: Residents warned ahead of live-fire exercise

The Nigerian Army has revealed that the 12 Brigade in Lokoja will carry out its maiden annual Range Classification Exercise between March 30 and April 2.

This was made known in a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja by the Brigade’s spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi.

He explained that the training will hold at the Chari Maigumeri Shooting Range and is intended to improve the shooting skills and combat preparedness of personnel.

Abdullahi added that the exercise will also allow the Brigade to evaluate the condition and effectiveness of its weapons in line with standard military requirements.

According to him, the initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Nigerian Army to boost its ability to combat banditry and other security threats in the area.

He advised residents of Shettima, Zango, and nearby communities not to be alarmed by gunfire or troop movements during the exercise.

“Members of the public are advised to stay clear of the range area throughout the duration of the exercise for their safety.

“The Army appeals to residents to help disseminate this information widely, including translating it into local languages to ensure adequate awareness,” he said.
