The Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State has issued a strong caution to Valentine’s Day celebrants, urging them to steer clear of drunk-driving and other risky actions that could endanger lives.
The warning was issued on Saturday by the State Sector Commander, Adelaja Ogungbemi, in a statement released by the Command’s Public Education Officer, Peter Longsan.
Ogungbemi explained that the advisory aligns with the directive of the Corps Marshal aimed at guaranteeing optimal road safety and reducing casualties during the Valentine’s Day festivities.
“We will not tolerate drunk-driving, speeding, and reckless driving. Enforcement of these and other excesses will be sanctioned,” Ogungbemi warned.
The FRSC boss further noted that continuous sensitisation of motorists on compliance with traffic and safety regulations remains a priority, while also calling on drivers to remain vigilant on the roads.
“Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed had mandated State Commanders and operatives to ensure maximum safety on the roads,” Ogungbemi noted.
He added that the Plateau Sector Command is appealing to all road users to put safety first and refrain from actions that could expose themselves or others to danger.
“The public is advised to report any concerns or incidents to the FRSC through their contact numbers,” the statement added.
