Awujale Stool: Wasiu Ayinde drags Gov Abiodun, others to court

Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, widely known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), has taken legal action against Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the State High Court in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an interim injunction to halt all actions related to the installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Also named as defendants in the suit are the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

The Fuji icon had earlier declared interest in the vacant royal stool, claiming ancestral ties to the Jadiara Royal House within the broader Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, his claim was rejected by the family, which maintained that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no ancestral connection to the royal lineage.

In a motion filed ex parte at High Court 2 under Suit No: HC3/238/2025, the musician stated that the application was brought in line with Order 38 Rule 4 and Order 39 Rule 1 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024; Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended); and the court’s inherent jurisdiction.

Dated December 16, the application urged the court to restrain all the defendants from taking further steps in the selection process until the substantive suit is heard and determined.

He argued that an interim injunction was necessary to protect his interests and prevent the subject matter of the suit from being altered or interfered with by the respondents.

The court has yet to fix a date for the hearing.
