The Bauchi State Government has directed security agencies to intensify operations against criminal activities across the state to improve public safety.
Governor Bala Mohammed issued the directive during a State Security Council meeting, where he urged security agencies to replicate recent successes recorded in Alkaleri Local Government Area in other communities facing security threats.
He also called on traditional rulers to strengthen surveillance in their communities, particularly by monitoring seasonal migration to prevent the infiltration of criminal elements into the state.
The governor warned that any traditional ruler found allocating land to suspicious individuals or granting unauthorised access to community mining activities would face legal sanctions.
Mohammed further cautioned residents against harbouring suspected criminals or failing to report suspicious activities, stressing that silence in the face of crime would not be tolerated.
He said communities must work closely with security agencies to improve intelligence gathering and support efforts to tackle insecurity.
The governor also appealed to the Nigerian Army to construct additional bridges in communities such as Bogoro and Azare to improve access for security operations.
He further urged the Nigeria Police Force to establish more police stations in underserved areas to strengthen law enforcement presence and enhance the state’s capacity to respond swiftly to security challenges.
