Blogger arrested for cloning DSS website, fraud attempt

The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a 32-year-old blogger, Augustus, for allegedly cloning its official website and publishing a fake recruitment notice.

The suspect, hailing from Akwa Ibom State, was arrested on Thursday at his residence on Akpan Eno Lane in Abak.

DSS sources revealed that Augustus, a University of Uyo graduate and content creator, used the cloned website to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians into believing the DSS was conducting a recruitment exercise.

A DSS source stated, “Augustus, a native of Abak Local Government Area, was tracked and arrested by operatives. He admitted to being a blogger and content creator and confessed to creating the fake recruitment notice with fraudulent intent.”

The DSS flagged the recruitment notice as false and issued a public warning to Nigerians to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to such scams.

Augustus is expected to face charges in court soon for his alleged fraudulent activities.
