Borno Gov declares statewide fasting, prayer to address rising insecurity

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has announced a statewide fast and prayer in response to the ongoing security challenges affecting the North-East.

Zulum made this known during a statewide broadcast on Saturday, explaining that the decision is aimed at seeking divine intervention as insecurity continues to escalate across the state.

“As a people of faith, we believe our security strategies must be underpinned by prayer. I, hereby declare Monday, 24th November, 2025, as a Statewide Day of Fasting and Prayer for the restoration of peace in Borno State and the country,” governor Zulum said.

He urged all residents of Borno State, irrespective of religious background, to participate in the spiritual exercise and pray for enduring peace and progress for the state and the nation.

The governor also maintained that “Collective prayer and fasting can strengthen communal faith and bring relief to the state.”
