The Edo State House of Assembly has been thrown into fresh leadership uncertainty following the resignation of its Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.
Agbebaku resigned on Monday as some lawmakers were reportedly pushing for his removal from office.
His media aide, Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, confirmed the development in a Facebook post, saying details surrounding his resignation would be disclosed later.
“EDO ASSEMBLY SPEAKER RT HON CHIEF BLESSING AGBEBAKU RESIGNS,” she wrote.
The resignation is expected to trigger a fresh process within the Assembly to select a new Speaker.
