Four people have lost their lives, while 16 others sustained injuries after a container-laden truck overturned onto an interstate passenger bus on Berger Bridge along the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway in Lagos.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Wednesday as the vehicles travelled towards Eleko.
Preliminary investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) indicated that the truck was moving at excessive speed before colliding with the Toyota Hiace bus.
The impact reportedly caused the truck driver to lose control while trying to avoid the collision, resulting in the container truck overturning onto the passenger vehicle.
Emergency responders, working alongside the Federal Road Safety Corps and the police, carried out rescue operations at the scene.
The 16 injured victims were subsequently evacuated to Epe General Hospital for treatment.
