Katsina State has declared Monday a public holiday to enable residents to mourn the passing of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday evening.
The Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, stated that the work-free day would give citizens and government workers the opportunity to join the nation in mourning and offering prayers for the late former president.
The state governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, also expressed his profound condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and the entire nation. He described the former president as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder statesman whose life was dedicated to the service of Nigeria.”
Governor Radda also prayed for the late President, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to show him mercy, forgive his shortcomings, and reward his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus.
Additional information about the burial arrangements will be shared with the public in due course.
