BUK Student killed in Phone snatching attack

Bayero University, Kano, has launched a manhunt for suspected phone snatchers who stabbed and killed a 300-level student, Umar Abdullahi Hafiz.

The university’s Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, saying it occurred at the student’s residence in the Dorayi area of Kano metropolis.

Garba said the university had arranged to transport Hafiz’s body to his hometown of Zaria, Kaduna State, for burial.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas pledged to work closely with security agencies to investigate the killing and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. He also urged calm within the university community and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to safeguarding students and staff.

Reports indicate that phone snatching has become a daily menace in Kano, claiming the lives of several innocent residents.
