Buni approves jobs for over 1,000 Yobe health students

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the employment of 1,095 medical and allied health science students undergoing training in higher institutions within and outside Nigeria.

The Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Mamman Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

The approval covers 294 medical students, who will be employed on Grade Level 07/2, and 801 Allied Health Science students, who will be placed on Grade Level 05/2.

According to the statement, the employment is intended to encourage the students to remain committed to their studies while preparing them for service in government health facilities after graduation.

“This is to serve as an incentive to support the students to pursue their courses of study with vigour and commitment, and to serve in government health facilities after completion of their studies,” the statement said.

Buni approves academic allowances

The governor also approved the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance and Earned Academic Allowance for eight state-owned tertiary institutions and other ministries, departments and agencies.

The institutions include:

  • College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Gujba
  • Galtima Mai Kyari College of Health Science and Technology, Nguru
  • Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu
  • College of Administration, Management and Technology, Potiskum
  • Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic, Geidam
  • Atiku Abubakar College of Education and Legal Studies, Nguru
  • Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashua

The statement said other relevant MDAs would also benefit from the approval.

Yobe reviews veterinary officers’ entry grade

In another development, Buni approved a review of the entry point for Veterinary Medical Officers in the state civil service.

The entry grade was moved from Consolidated Medical Salary Structure 2/2 to CONMESS 3/2.

The governor also approved an upgrade structure covering CONMESS 2/2-3/2, 3/1-4/1, 4/1-5/1, 5/1-6/1 and 6/1-7/1.

He further approved the Consolidated Salary Structure for law officers in the Yobe State Ministry of Justice and the placement of judiciary staff on the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure.

The state government said the measures were aimed at improving the welfare of the beneficiaries and motivating them to contribute more effectively to public service delivery.
