Charles Soludo grants scholarship to Anambra’s highest UTME scorer

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has granted a full scholarship to Chiazo Umeaniba, a student of Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi, following her impressive 344 score in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The scholarship was announced during the first anniversary celebration of Solution Fun City in Awka on Sunday.

Soludo approved the award after the student, who serves as her school’s senior prefect, performed a dance at the event, after which officials informed him of her UTME result.

He subsequently declared that the scholarship would cover her education from undergraduate level up to PhD.

According to him, “Your education from undergraduate to PhD is on me. Yes, the bill is on me…”

He added that her performance and leadership role reminded him of his own academic journey as a senior prefect and high-achieving student, expressing confidence that she would excel further in higher education.

The governor also used the occasion to highlight the impact of Solution Fun City, commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025 and opened to the public in June 2025, describing it as a major recreational centre designed for residents across different social groups.

He noted that the facility is part of his administration’s broader plan to boost tourism and attract investment into Anambra State, adding that more infrastructure projects are ongoing.

Officials at the event said the centre has continued to record high patronage since opening, attracting thousands of visitors daily from within and outside the state.

Umeaniba expressed appreciation to the governor for the scholarship during the colourful anniversary event, which also featured cultural performances and entertainment activities.
