Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that the successful and peaceful ward congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State are evidence that the party is prepared to reclaim power.
In a statement issued by Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, his press officer on local matters, Saraki explained that the congresses held across the state’s 193 wards highlighted both unity and internal democracy.
“The congresses once again demonstrated the growing strength of our party in Kwara,” he said.
Saraki, a former governor of Kwara, further noted that the “consensus-driven process underscored the readiness of the PDP to reclaim leadership at all levels in the state.”
He commended party members for their orderly conduct, saying the outcome reflected the collective determination of the PDP family to work together in peace and unity.
The former Senate president also congratulated the newly elected ward executives, urging them to view their roles as an opportunity for service.
“The task before the new ward leadership is enormous. They must serve as unifying pillars, mobilisers, and true representatives of the aspirations of our people,” he said.
He stressed that the dedication of the new ward leaders at the grassroots would play a vital role in shaping the strength and advancement of the party.
Saraki also pledged his continued support and encouraged stakeholders to maintain unity as the PDP gears up for future elections.
