Court bars INEC from recognising Mark, Aregbesola as ADC Chairman, Secretary

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise David Mark and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola as interim national chairman and national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Justice Emeka Nwite gave the interim injunction after considering an ex parte motion dated 2 September 2025, filed by Nafiu Gombe. The suit named the ADC, Mark, and Aregbesola as the first, second, and third defendants, while INEC and former national chairman Ralph Nwosu appeared as the fourth and fifth defendants.

The court also restrained INEC from recognising any representatives of Mark and Aregbesola until it hears the substantive motion on notice.

INEC had earlier published on its website that it officially recognised Mark and Aregbesola as the party’s interim leaders.
