A High Court in Kaduna has denied bail to Bashir Saidu, former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, pending a hearing.
Saidu, also a former Finance Commissioner, faces 10 charges, including money laundering and embezzlement of Kaduna State funds.
Accusations include selling $45 million of state funds at an undervalued rate, causing a ₦3.9bn loss. The offences allegedly occurred in 2022.
Justice Isa Aliyu granted the prosecution time to respond to Saidu’s bail application and adjourned the case to January 23, 2025.
