Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The judge brought the trial to an end on Monday following an application by the Federal Government, which said Adeyemi would be transferred to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for a fresh arraignment.
At the proceedings, the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, moved the application seeking the termination of the charges.
Oyedepo informed the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, had reviewed the case file and the charge instituted by the Inspector-General of Police and identified certain loopholes.
Among others, he said that the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi during his operation of the fake agency are those that can be prosecuted by the High Court of the FCT and not the Federal High Court.
He urged the judge to strike out the charge as required by law.
Following no objections from Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, who stood for Adeyemi, Justice Umar terminated the charge accordingly.
Adeyemi is being tried alongside two others whose whereabouts were unknown, on charges bordering on conspiracy and forgery.
The two others said to be at large were identified as Femi (surname unknown) Anu (surname unknown).
The charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025, was entered against the defendant by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation.
