Defend your votes, Adeleke urges Osun residents

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Friday urged residents of the state to turn out for the governorship election, cast their ballots, and protect their votes in accordance with democratic principles.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke made the appeal during separate visits to the palaces of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha and the Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesha.

The governor visited the traditional rulers to seek their support for his re-election, accompanied by his cousin and Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

Adeleke, who was accompanied by senior members of the Imole Campaign Council, urged voters across Osun to be courageous and resolute in exercising their constitutional right to vote. He stressed that “no force can deny Osun voters their democratic rights.”

Echoing Davido’s call for residents to vote and defend their ballots, Adeleke maintained that free and fair elections are the inalienable rights of the people of Osun and that “they are ready to protect and affirm those rights on August 15th”

At the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Jesa, Oba Adeleke Oke, the monarch praised the governor for what he described as his impressive achievements over the past four years. He also assured the Accord campaign team of the full backing of his subjects in the August 15 election.

While receiving Adeleke, Oba Oke organised a victory prayer session, featuring interfaith prayers for the success of Accord against its political opponents.

“You will win the second term and you will deliver even more than you have done in your first term. My people are eager to continue to be part of a good turn of events in the state,” the monarch said.

Speaking at campaign rallies in Ipetu-Ijesha and Ijebu-Jesa, Adeleke expressed confidence that victory was within reach and called on residents to intensify their mobilisation efforts to ensure continuity in government.

“Your security is assured. Your safety is guaranteed. Mobilise your relatives and friends. Vote for good governance and more dividends of democracy.

“Ijesa people, Osun people cannot be scared. We are people of courage. Vote and defend your votes”, the governor told supporters at the two rallies.
