Governor Monday Okpebholo has nominated Terry Igiebor to serve as chairman of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission, a move aimed at strengthening the state’s response to environmental and developmental challenges.

The nomination was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, who said the administration remains committed to improving environmental governance and ensuring effective management of ecological resources across Edo communities.

Igiebor, a businessman with a background in grassroots politics, has been actively involved in community development initiatives over the years. He also previously served on the Edo State Audit Service Commission, where he contributed to oversight and accountability efforts within the public sector.

The state government said the nomination would undergo the required legislative process before becoming effective.

“This is to announce the nomination of Terry Igiebor as Chairman of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission. The nomination will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and confirmation, in line with statutory requirements,” he noted.

According to the government, the proposed appointment is expected to enhance the commission’s capacity to tackle environmental concerns, coordinate ecological intervention projects and support sustainable development efforts in different parts of the state.

If cleared by the House of Assembly, Igiebor will be tasked with overseeing the administration and deployment of ecological funds for projects designed to mitigate environmental risks and improve living conditions in affected communities.
