The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has discovered a large illegal industrial facility containing several processing plants, warehouses and an unauthorised distillery in Ogere, Ogun State.
The anti-graft agency also took foreign nationals, police personnel and other Nigerians into custody in connection with the discovery.
The facility was exposed during an inspection exercise led by EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
According to Arise News, the industrial complex, reportedly operated by foreign nationals suspected to be Chinese citizens, housed a petroleum processing plant, a lithium processing factory, a specialised wood processing facility and a power generation plant.
Other facilities discovered at the site included warehouses containing motorcycles, satellite communication equipment and thousands of power banks.
An illegal distillery allegedly involved in the mass production of alcoholic spirits was also found within the complex.
Speaking during the inspection, Olukoyede said investigations into the activities of the facility were ongoing.
He, however, assured that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
The EFCC is yet to disclose further details about the identities of those arrested or the full scope of the alleged illegal operations.
