The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked a viral social media post claiming it is conducting a secret recruitment exercise, stating that the information is untrue.
In a statement published on its official X account on Monday, the anti-corruption agency cautioned the public not to believe the misleading claim.
The post included a graphic prominently displaying the words “FAKE NEWS” and “THIS IS FALSE NEWS. BEWARE!”
The misleading message stated, “Disturb your godfather ooo. EFCC is secretly recruiting. They are probably reporting for training next month,” and also urged users to send anonymous messages.
Marking the post as “Fake News,” the commission urged Nigerians to ignore the claim.
The clarification follows repeated incidents in which fraudsters spread fake EFCC recruitment announcements online to mislead job seekers and extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
The EFCC reiterated that all of its recruitment exercises are officially announced through its verified communication channels and are never conducted secretly or through intermediaries.
The commission also advised the public to confirm any information about its activities through its official platforms before taking any action.
