Eid-el-Fitr: Anambra first lady calls for love and unity

The wife of the Anambra State governor, Nonye Soludo, has extended her congratulations to Muslims nationwide on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the conclusion of Ramadan and a month of fasting.

Soludo urged Nigerians to foster love and unity, emphasizing that Eid-el-Fitr serves as a reminder that love, sacrifice, and tolerance are the cornerstones of harmony and peaceful coexistence.

The Anambra First Lady, also founder of the non-governmental organisation, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, made this known in a statement released on Thursday while felicitating Muslim faithful.

She highlighted that Eid-el-Fitr represents a time for spiritual reflection and gratitude to Allah, while also strengthening community ties through communal prayers, charity, family visits, and the exchange of gifts, promoting unity, generosity, and joy.

She stated, “Ramadan Kareem to the Muslim Ummah in Anambra State and all the faithful across the country celebrating this important feast.

“Eid-el-Fitr reminds us that love, sacrifice and tolerance remain the greatest foundations of harmony and mutual coexistence.

“As you celebrate, remember that it is about spreading true love and genuine happiness. Let someone around you smile because of you.

“Let love, kindness and oneness lead. Eid Mubarak to you and your loved ones.”

The First Lady recently also honoured mothers across the country, describing motherhood as a “divine responsibility” deserving of constant respect, and noting that its value cannot be measured in material terms.

In a statement marking Mothering Sunday on March 15, she said no gift or expression of love could equal the significance of motherhood.
