Governors across several states have urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, love, and tolerance as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, called on citizens to promote charity, mutual tolerance, and peaceful coexistence regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
In a goodwill message signed by his chief press secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo said the Sallah celebration serves as a reminder of obedience, sacrifice, and commitment to humanity’s common good.
He encouraged Muslim faithful to use the spiritual significance of the period to pray for lasting peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents in Anambra State.
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, similarly urged Muslims to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding among both Muslims and non-Muslims.
“I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Kebbi State and beyond on this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, a season of sacrifice, faith, and obedience to Allah.
“May the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim inspire us to uphold peace, tolerance, and unity across our communities as we celebrate this sacred festival with gratitude and humility,” Idris said.
The governor added that his administration would continue collaborating with security agencies and vigilante groups to protect lives and property across the state.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, called on Muslims to pray for peace, unity, love, and social cohesion in Nigeria.
“The truth is that sacred occasions, events, and seasons like this offer us not only the opportunity, but rare privilege to seek spiritual solutions to the plethora of physical challenges greeting and staring starkly at us as a nation,” he said.
Nwifuru stressed that peace, unity, and love remain key to addressing Nigeria’s challenges and pledged continued collaboration with religious organisations to promote good governance.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, described Eid-el-Adha as a reminder of obedience to God and selfless sacrifice, values he said are necessary for leadership and responsible citizenship.
He urged Muslims to pray for peace, security, and stability in Katsina State and Nigeria, while encouraging support for the less privileged and the promotion of compassion and communal harmony.
Radda also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of all residents, irrespective of religion or background.
