Emergency officials contain leaking gas tanker in Kaduna

A potential disaster was averted in Kaduna after emergency agencies successfully brought a leaking compressed gas tanker under control in the Kaduna South area of the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, Usman Mazadu, said the incident was reported on Sunday, prompting a coordinated response by KADSEMA and the Kaduna State Fire and Public Safety Agency.

He explained that emergency officials immediately secured the location and began cooling the tanker to reduce the risk of ignition and ensure the situation did not worsen.

“No casualty or injury was recorded, and the tanker driver escaped unharmed,” Mazadu said.

He urged residents and motorists to avoid the Nnamdi Azikiwe By-Pass near Unguwan Mu’azu while emergency personnel complete safety checks, noting that traffic has been diverted to other routes.

Mazadu also thanked members of the public for complying with safety instructions and encouraged them to continue cooperating with emergency officials until the operation is concluded.
