Ex-Abia Gov Ikeazu’s Deputy resigns from PDP

A former deputy governor of Abia State, Ude Chukwu, who served under ex-governor Okezie Ikpeazu from May 2015 to May 2023, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Chukwu’s resignation letter, dated August 5 and obtained by our correspondent, cited “personal reasons” for his decision.

In the letter, he expressed gratitude to the PDP for its support over the years and conveyed his best wishes for the party’s future.

“I write to inform you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.

“You may wish to note that I am resigning due to personal reasons. While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time,” the letter stated. It was addressed to the Chairman, Ndi Elu Ward, Nkporo, Ohafia L.G.A, and acknowledged by one Ama Nwoke Ibe.

His exit from the PDP came shortly after visiting the Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti.

Reports indicated that during the meeting, Chukwu did not declare that Otti had secured re-election for 2027.

Following this visit, Chukwu was reportedly removed from all Abia PDP stakeholders’ groups in the state.
