A suspected bomb explosion has struck Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, with several lives reportedly lost.
A source who spoke to TheCable said a driver identified as Zuberu was among those affected. The source also disclosed that a woman sustained injuries and has been taken to Ilorin on the directive of the Kaiama LGA chairman.
Attempts to contact the Kwara State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, although residents suspect the improvised explosive device (IED) may have been detonated by Boko Haram members.
The development comes weeks after a similar attack in the area, where at least 75 residents were killed and several homes destroyed in Woro and Nuku communities.
Following that incident, President Bola Tinubu ordered the deployment of an army battalion to strengthen security in the area.
