The father of the abducted University of Uyo student, Pastor Aniefiok Asian, has expressed concern over the whereabouts of his son, Utibe Asian, who was kidnapped sometime in December last year.
Asian, a 300-level Theatre Arts student, was reportedly abducted after receiving a call from a strange number that directed him to an unknown location, after which he never returned.
Despite the payment of ₦500,000 as ransom, the student has remained in captivity, deepening worries about his fate.
According to the father, the incident occurred on December 3, when Utibe received a call from an unknown number and went out to meet the caller at an undisclosed place, after which he disappeared.
He added that the abductors initially demanded ₦30 million before reducing it to ₦500,000, which was paid on December 13, 2025, but the victim was not released.
“The first day, he demanded N30m as ransom and gradually reduced it to N500,000.00, which was paid to him through a transfer to the bank account on 13th December, 2025.
“I was directed to prepare and go to Abak and pick my child up. Since that day of payment, the abductor did not call again, nor was my son’s voice heard.”
He further explained that the case had been reported to security agencies, including the police and DSS, but there has been no breakthrough so far.
The family is now appealing for urgent intervention to rescue the student and bring those responsible to justice.
