The Federal Government has announced the official theme for Nigeria’s 2025 Independence Day celebrations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, revealed that the theme will be “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
According to the statement, the theme reflects the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens to promote national peace, prosperity, and progress.
The government said the choice of theme underscores Nigeria’s resilience since gaining independence in 1960 and highlights the importance of consolidating past achievements while pursuing greater goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Government agencies and development partners have been urged to align their programmes with the anniversary theme to ensure that its message resonates across all sectors of national life.
As part of the events marking the 65th Independence celebrations, a Juma’at prayer will be held on Friday, 26 September, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, 28 September. A World Press Conference is scheduled to take place in Abuja on Monday, 29 September.
The statement added that since independence, Nigeria has overcome numerous challenges and achieved significant progress across various economic sectors. This, it said, makes collective effort essential to building on existing gains and realising a stronger, more united nation.
All government activities and programmes, the statement concluded, are expected to reflect the anniversary theme and contribute towards achieving the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
