Gov Adeleke, Accord Party leadership back Tinubu for 2027 presidential race

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of Accord Party have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Adeleke re-election campaign, said the governor and the party’s national leadership convened on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, where they held wide-ranging discussions on issues facing the party.

Olajengbesi said the party’s leadership stressed the importance of the Tinubu administration seeing through all ongoing road and infrastructure projects, citing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway as key examples.

The upcoming August governorship election in Osun state was also on the agenda, with the party’s leadership speaking out firmly against violence, intimidation, electoral manipulation and the deployment of security forces against Accord Party members in the state.

The campaign spokesperson listed members of the party’s national leadership in attendance as Maxwell Mgbudem, national chairman; Maryam Sale, deputy national chairman; Ajaja Abiola Adebukola, national secretary; Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen, national treasurer; Ibe Thankgod, national organising secretary; and Omorogbe Joseph, national publicity secretary, among others.

State chairmen of the party from across the country were also present at the meeting.
